Design scope

We tailor system architecture to the application: residential resilience, C&I demand reduction, or utility-scale grid services.

  • Capacity and power sizing for peak shaving, backup, or energy arbitrage.
  • Architecture selection: AC-coupled, DC-coupled, or hybrid systems.
  • Thermal management strategy, HVAC sizing, and heat rejection planning.
  • Protection coordination, grounding, and short-circuit assessments.
  • Communications, SCADA/EMS integration, and cybersecurity requirements.

System design workflow

  1. Requirements capture: load profiles, interconnection limits, and project objectives.
  2. Modeling: dispatch simulations, degradation, and revenue sensitivity.
  3. Architecture: select BESS topology, inverter strategy, and protection schemes.
  4. Equipment mapping: choose container or cabinet systems, PCS, and transformers.
  5. Integration plan: EMS/SCADA points list, control logic, and communications.
  6. Safety design: NFPA 855, UL9540A, fire suppression, and egress planning.
  7. Performance validation: verify KPIs, efficiency, and operational constraints.

Deliverables

  • Design basis report with KPIs, constraints, and assumptions.
  • Single-line diagrams, protection settings, and grounding plans.
  • System layout, equipment specs, and utility requirements.
  • EMS control philosophy and communications architecture.
  • Risk assessment and safety documentation.

Optimization focus

  • Lifecycle cost analysis and augmentation planning.
  • Availability modeling and redundancy strategy.
  • Efficiency improvements across power conversion stages.
  • Operational flexibility for grid service markets.
  • Constructability and maintenance access planning.
